Bruce Ragsdale wins 2022 George Washington Book Prize for Washington at the Plow

We are delighted to learn that Bruce Ragsdale has been announced as the winner of the 2022 George Washington Book Prize for his Washington at the Plow: The Founding Farmer and the Question of Slavery. Bruce was the first Mount Vernon GPP fellow in 2016, and contributed much to the life of the programme during his time in the UK and at King’s College London. This is the second time that the prize has been awarded to work that was supported by a GPP fellowship, Bruce following in the footsteps of Rick Atkinson and his work The British are Coming in  2020. Read more about the prize here and Bruce’s book here.

Congratulations to Bruce!  Learn more about how working on the Georgian Papers informed Bruce’s work in his acceptance speech!
